Things to do in Edinburgh
We hope you enjoy your visit to Edinburgh! If you are staying for longer and want to explore the city, here are some of our Korea-themed recommendations.
National Museum of Scotland
Close to Old College (if you have time to kill before the opening ceremony ;) ), entrance to the National Museum is free (although they do welcome donations).
Highlights include some Korean materials in the East Asia Collections, but also the Science and Technology gallery (which has Dolly the Sheep) and the Natural World galleries. The museum is also very child-friendly, if you are travelling with children.

Waters of Leith / Dean Village
A little further away, but worth the trip if you want a change of scene, the Waters of Leith is a riverside trail that goes all the way through the city to the port at Leith. Its possible to join the trail at several places, but Dean Village is a popular spot to see, and take selfies with, some older buildings, and the walk between Dean Village to Stockbridge or the Botanical Gardens is a popular route. (We recommend using googlemaps to find your way - routes will vary depending on where you are starting.)
Also close by are the Dean Galleries (two modern art galleries, again with free entry, and again with some kid-friendly activities), and Dean Cemetery (resting place of Isabella Bird Bishop). H/t to Brother Anthony who shared the information about Isabella Bird Bishop. If you are planning a visit, here are his instructions to find her headstone (copied from facebook): [after] entering the cemetery, walk straight ahead until paths divide. Keep on along the path on the left until it starts to curve. In the curve there is a small path on the left, leading toward the wall. There is a large tree on the left side with the stone under it.

Arthurs Seat
This is an obvious one (especially from the conference hotel) but its well-worth a (surprisingly quick) climb. Its a straightforward route, but do wear appropriate clothing/footwear, and be wary of wind/rain at the top. No injuries please! After your climb, if you keep going down the other side of the hill, you can find the Sheep Heid Inn (est. 1360 - pre-Chosŏn!) for beer, food, and skittles.
